Tik Tok Creators Make Ratatouille (the Musical) a Broadway Reality

Hear what Blake Rouse, one of the TikTok creators behind the Ratatouille Musical, has to say about making his Broadway debut.

What started as a joke is now a Broadway musical reality for some TikTok content creators. Last fall, several artists began uploading musical numbers (complete with sets, lights, and costumes) to TikTok. These short musical videos, inspired by the Disney/Pixar 2007 film, caught the attention of Brad Bird, the original director of the Ratatouille movie, and Patton Oswalt, the actor who voiced the role of Remy. After Disney gave the green light, Seaview Productions, a prominent Broadway production company, decided to stage a star-studded concert to benefit The Actors Fund featuring Titus Burgess, Adam Lambert, Wayne Brady, and André De Shields.

Blake Rouse, a 17-year-old high school senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, penned two out of the 11 songs that will be featured Friday night in Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical. Hear what he has to say to RDU on Stage about music, creativity, and making his Broadway debut.

The Tony Award-winning theatrical production company Seaview (Slave Play; Sea Wall/A Life) will present, in association with TiktTok and TodayTix Presents and for one performance only, Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical on Friday, January 1, 2021 at 7:00pm ET to benefit The Actors Fund. The performance will be available for streaming for 72 hours after the start time.
