Drawing from her own experience with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, multihyphenate Carlita Victoria started the Darkness Rising Project to ensure Black Broadway performers had access to mental health resources. Hear what she has to say about that and more.

Carlita Victoria is a Raleigh, North Carolina native, she attended The University of NC at Greensboro (BFA Dance Performance & Choreography, K-12 Dance Education). A committed mental health advocate, Carlita founded Darkness RISING Nonprofit for Black mental health to create a safe space and mental health resources for the Black community. Carlita has performed nationally and internationally with Chuck Davis & The African American Dance Ensemble, Madagascar Live: China, Circus Conelli Switzerland, The Glee Project Promo featuring Darren Criss, Off-Broadway with Broad Comedy, as well various regional shows. Carlita’s heart is always with North Carolina Theatre, where she’s performed in Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray, In The Heights, and Kinky Boots!
