Live Chat: COME FROM AWAY’s Kevin Tuerff Reflects on the Similarities Between COVID-19 and 9/11

On 9/11, Kevin Tuerff boarded a plane in Paris bound for Austin, Texas. He, like nearly 7000 other airline passengers, was re-routed to Gander, Newfoundland. The compassion and acts of kindness of the Ganderites towards the “come from aways” in the days following 9/11, inspired the musical COME FROM AWAY. Kevin Tuerff (the real life Kevin T.) chronicles his time in Gander in his book CHANNEL OF PEACE, which is available on Amazon.

In this interview, Kevin talks to RDU on Stage about a new project he’s launched called #lightuptheworld, the comparison of 9/11 to the COVID-19 pandemic, and more. For more information on #lightuptheworld, visit www.brokeringgoodness.org.

The PRAYER, written by David Hein and Irene Sankoff and published by Sankoff and Hein and Penny Farthing Music, is performed by Ted Willis and Stan Williams and used with permission of ASCAP and the performing artists.
