National Black Theatre Festival

This is a very special year — the 43rd anniversary of the North Carolina Black Repertory
Company as well as the 33rd anniversary of NBTF. This historic event illuminates the powerful
theatrical spirit and extraordinary talent of performers, designers, directors, producers and
technicians from across the country and abroad. During its six life-impacting days, you will
experience electrifying performances, informative workshops, riveting films and insightful
spoken word poetry that will open your eyes to a new perspective on our culture’s artistic
endeavors.

The star-studded Opening Night Gala gets underway with a vibrant parade of powerful African
drummers and dancers of Otésha Creative Arts Ensemble followed by a grand and royal
procession of more than 25 celebrities of stage, television and film.
Enjoy a taste of Broadway in the second part of this exciting evening with one of the Festival’s
hits, The Eve of Jackie, starring award winning Broadway performer and recording artist
Chester Gregory. This production will mark his final performance as the legendary Jackie
Wilson and, therefore, is not to be missed. Get your tickets now for this marvtastic show!
